Rose Hill SUD provides each water meter to serve one residence or one business. A meter serving one home or business cannot also be used to supply water to another home, business, or property.
The easiest way to think about it is:
One meter = one residence or one business.
What Does That Mean?
If you have one meter serving your home, that meter is for that home. You cannot run a water line from that service to a second home, another business, a rental home, or another property.
The same applies to a business. A meter installed to serve one business cannot also be used to provide water service to another separately served business, residence, or property.
What If Everything Is on the Same Property?
Being located on the same property does not automatically mean everything can be served through one meter.
For example, if a second residence or separate business is added to a property, an additional meter may be required. Contact Rose Hill SUD before connecting the new residence or business to an existing water service so we can determine what service is needed.
What If the Other Building Is on Another Property?
Water service cannot be extended from one property to another property through a customer's private water line.
For example, a customer cannot use the meter on Property A and run a private water line across the property line to provide water to a residence, business, or other customer on Property B. The second property must have its own approved water service.
Why Does This Matter?
Each water service is established for a specific residence, business, and property. Separate service allows the District to properly account for water use, determine service requirements, protect the public water system, and apply the same service requirements consistently throughout the District.
